The six-episode limited Netflix NFLX +1% series Behind Her Eyes quickly jumped to No. 1 in the Top 10 TV shows in the U.S. after its February 17 premiere. The twists and turns were plentiful in this deeply layered supernatural tale based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Sarah Pinborough.

The story follows a dangerously seductive affair involving Louise (Simona Brown), a single mother who has a relationship with her married psychiatrist boss David (Tom Bateman). Things really get complicated when she gets entangled in an inescapable web of secrets, lies and betrayals after befriending his wife Adele (Eve Hewson).

This gripping thriller is truly a nonstop ride with an unexpected twist at the end. So, what can viewers seeking another mystery watch now? Here are seven suspenseful British dramas to binge after Behind Her Eyes.

This Stranger knows all your deepest, darkest secrets.

The Stranger – Hannah John-Kamen stars in this eight-episode series as a mysterious woman who seems to know everyone’s deepest, darkest secrets and uses them to get what she needs no matter the cost. When a man’s wife goes missing soon after she approaches him, an investigation is launched into who this woman really is. Of course, as one question is answered, many more come to the surface. This series is based on Harlan Coben’s novel of the same name.

Criminal: UK (aka Criminal: United Kingdom) – This British police procedural anthology series was created by George Kay and Jim Field Smith and stars David Tennant and Kit Harington. Netflix released the first season of three episodes in September 2019 and the second season of four episodes followed a year later. This is part of the anthology series Criminal which had a 12-episode first season with three episodes each set in four countries and filmed in local languages entitled Criminal: France, Criminal: Spain, Criminal: Germany and Criminal: UK. The story is set exclusively within the confines of a police interrogation room where London investigators engage in intense games of psychological cat-and-mouse with their suspects to find the answers they need to solve their cases.

Bodyguard – This six-episode series originally premiered on BBC One in 2018 and quickly became a fan favorite across the pond before making its way stateside. Set in the corridors of power, the story follows David Budd (Richard Madden), a heroic but volatile war veteran now working as a Specialist Protection Officer for the Royalty and Specialist Branch of London’s Metropolitan Police Service. After stopping a terrorist attack, he’s assigned to protect the ambitious and powerful Home Secretary Julia Montague (Keeley Hawes) and soon finds himself torn between his duty and his beliefs.

White Lines – This 10-episode British-Spanish mystery-thriller was created by Álex Pina and follows the story of a woman searching for the truth about the death of her brother. When the body of a legendary Manchester DJ is found 20 years after his mysterious disappearance from Ibiza, his sister leaves her quiet life behind and returns to the beautiful Spanish island to find out what happened. Her investigation will lead her through a thrilling world of dance clubs, lies and cover-ups. She will be forced to confront the darker sides of her own character in a place where people live life on the edge. The series was released in May of 2020 and canceled by the streamer after just one season.
