Communing with Nature

Nestled amidst lush fields and sundry bodies of water, this secluded property in Kalundewa near Dambulla is an ideal leisure destination. The chalets with their lightweight structures are elegantly designed to provide an experience of being one with nature. The interior spaces allow visitors to experience a seamless flow of nature in successive cycles of time. Each location is treated sensitively by embracing the natural environment. And every chalet has an intermediate transition point so there’s a feel of the place before one enters the main space. The infinity plunge pool is a special feature in every chalet with a shallow water terrace and pool deck. The boutique resort also boasts a natural spring (ulpatha), which overflows into a beautiful stream surrounded by lush vegetation. The common facility building is a contemporary interpretation of a traditional farmer’s resting place (wadiya). It acts as a pavilion, connecting farming fields with the lake across a bund. The architecture and design of the resort are intended to offer visitors a unique spatial feel, which heals the mind, body and soul – a feat that can be achieved only when humans commune with nature.
