S o 2020 gave us a taste of what life is like sans regular visits to the salon. Many of us had to DIY basic beauty maintenance – quite often with mixed results! Here are five hair hacks that you can employ using ingredients that are easily found, which work brilliantly in response to many hair related dilemmas.
MAYONNAISE Massage a generous quantity of mayonnaise into your damp hair for a glossy healthy mane. Start from mid-shaft and comb through, making sure you give the ends of your hair more attention. For best results, wear a shower cap to keep everything locked in and keep the treatment on for at least 20 minutes. Then wash and style as usual.
POWDER POWER When you need to wash your hair urgently but have run out of dry shampoo, put a little baby powder into your palm or some on your brush and gently rub it into your scalp. Dust off the excess. The powder will soak up oils and give you another day of fresh hair.
BAKING SODA Try baking soda to manage dandruff. Mix two tablespoons of baking soda with water to create a fine paste and coat your scalp with it. Let it sit for five to 10 minutes before washing.
LEMON JUICE If you’d like to sport natural highlights, lemon juice will do the trick. Apply it to your hair and comb through gently. Then sit in the sun for about 45 minutes… and don’t forget to use sunscreen. You’ll have to repeat this process every fortnight or so until your hair has lightened to the colour you desire.
COLA DRINKS Do you know that cola can give your hair extraordinary volume and texture? Simply pour it over your hair, wrap your head in a towel and let it dry.
