Netflix just confirmed that a spinoff of That ‘70s Show, titled That ’90s Show’ is currently in the works, and we are honestly SO excited for this. So, here’s the lowdown…
We’ve all heard of That ’70s Show – if you haven’t binged it multiple times already, why not? GO, GO, GO! If you’re not familiar with the popular series, let us clue you in. Well, it ran for eight seasons in the USA on Fox and graced our screens from 1998 until 2006, and is the reason that we know and love some of the most famous actors in 2021. The original show starred the liked of: Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Topher Grace, Laura Prepon and Wilmer Valderrama – star-studded or what!?
The popular comedy show was set in the late 1970s and focused on six teenagers who lived in Point Place, Winsconsin (yep, the town was fictional). The series followed the teens as they navigated growing up, going to high school and falling in love. A big theme throughout the show was their love of the green stuff (FYI: cannabis).
Loved by millennials and gen-z, Netflix noticed the popularity of the original show and on October 8 they announced that they were commissioning a spinoff. Netflix revealed that the spinoff is set to be titled That ’90s Show and is currently in the works right now. They also announced that some of the original cast from the main show would be returning too – yay!
It has been confirmed that just like That ’70s Show, the new spinoff will also take place in Wisconsin, America. Whereas the original was set in the 70s, the re-vamp will be set in 1995, and the spinoff will focus on lead character Leia Forman – the daughter of daughter of Eric Forman and Donna Pinciotti.
