What is an inverted bob? The biggest difference between an inverted bob and the classic…
The bottleneck bob was the obvious next step when we heard that bottleneck bangs were set to be the fringe trend of 2022.
It may not come as a surprise that bobs remain big news, given they were the most popular haircut of the past year among GLAMOUR readers. But moving forward, the bob continues to innovate and evolve to stay fresh. The latest? An extra little embellishment to frame cheeks and draw attention to eyes… which is where bottleneck bangs come in.
Top London hair stylist, and Evo’s Colour Director, Tom Smith predicted bottleneck bangs would go stratospheric last summer, before naming it his top hair trend of 2022. “The shape of the fringe or the bang is narrower at the top, then gets wider like the shoulders of a bottle, then curves around and gives you that detail under the cheekbone. It’s really flattering. It’s very ‘70s, but it’s also very now, ” Tom explained in a video posted to his Instagram. Essentially, it’s the curtain bangs’ daintier little sister.
Margot Robbie helped kick-start our fascination with the cut, Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney’s been wearing the fringe, Lucy Hale’s a fan, Camila Morrone’s on board and basically, we’re seeing it everywhere.
Combine it with the bob, though, and you have yourself a cute shoulder-baring length with the bonus of some extra face-framing action. Aka, the bottleneck bob.
We’re calling it. With the weather heating up, this is a sweet way to lop off extra layers, but with a sweet, fresh twist. And imagine how cute those bottleneck bangs would look with a dinky short-haired updo when the UK finally feels warmer.
