TIS THE SEASON OF HIGH HEELS

Glamour: 12/6/2021

If you’re as ready as we are to slip into a pair of the best heels of the season, you’ll want to wear every.single.pair in our epic edit. Whether you want designer heels from Christian Louboutin and Jimmy Choo or your budget is based around high street heels (we found the most epic pairs from ASOS, & Other Stories and H&M) you can call off the search because your dream high heels are right here.

We know that your favourite trainers are a wardrobe staple and we’ve been living in our black boots all winter long, but the glimmer of hope that party season is back IRL makes us yearn to slip into a pair of heels.

The doom mongers who predicted that we would never climb back into high heels after a lockdown (or three) spent in slippers and designer trainers were so wrong. Across the board, brands are catering to customers who are keen to get back into high heels and sales are echoing this sentiment.

Net-a-porter.com is on board with the high heel revival, citing the platform as their shoe of spring 2022. They’re going all out on the Y2K revival and stocking 50 styles of platform from 18 brands come spring.

But which shoes will you choose to party in right now? Gold and silver are festive classics that you can wear just like a neutral. Whether you’re teaming them with your favourite jeans or a fancy dress, metallic shades are guaranteed to go with everything (and if you invest in Manolo Blahnik’s iconic Campari heel, you’ll want to wear them with everything.) Likewise the little black dress of shoes… the black strappy sandal… will be a wear-forever buy. & Other Stories have a delicate strappy style and H&M’s velvet braided mules are epically on-trend.

If you can’t choose a colour to match your dress, choose a rainbow – like Kurt Geiger’s buckled sandals. Wear a turquoise satin mule from The Attico with a colour clashing dress in a similarly bright tone… Or you could go subtle in festive shades of mulled wine or spruce. Dee Ocleppo’s heels are a classic made modern with a crushed velvet finish and we’re drooling over River Island’s apple green heels with jewelled trim.

Some of this year’s best heels come from new brands such as Amina Muaddi, The Attico and Mach + Mach. Known for her crystal brooch details, Amina Muaddi’s Begum slingback pump is a party season essential (and guaranteed sell-out) while Mach + Mach’s signature crystal embellishment lights up their Diamond of Elizabeth style. We’ll see you on the dancefloor!
